Although some formal gardens main look low maintenance they actually require a lot of care. Most formal gardens require daily maintenance and constant pruning to maintain the neat and clean look. A fromal garden is created with clean and well defined garden landscape design. Outline the edges with smaller, colorful plants while adding drama with varrying sizes and species of larger plants. The garden landscape design is not necessarily stiff but it is usually well defined with straight lines and borders.
